This June, the beautiful island of Rab in Croatia wasn’t just a vacation paradise, it was the ultimate destination for young hoopers from Iceland looking to level up their game. The Dino Basketball Camp, organized by one of Iceland’s top players (a proud representative of Dagger Basketball Agency), brought together skill, fun, and unforgettable experiences under the
Adriatic sun.

Led by Dino Stipcic, a well known star in youth coaching circles, the camp ran from June 7–14, 2025, and welcomed kids born between 2007 and 2012. Dino, whose coaching résumé includes assistant coaching duties with Iceland’s U20 national team at EuroBasket 2023 in Heraklion and 2024 in Gdynia, as well as his new role as U15 head coach for Iceland, brought serious expertise to the floor. Before his coaching career kicked off in 2020, Dino has a long playing career across Croatia and Iceland, including KR, Hottur, and Alftanes, and keep going in both ways the following 2025/2026 season.

The camp itself was split between structured morning and afternoon sessions. Mornings were all about individual development, from ball-handling and shooting to agility and speed training, with workouts taking place both indoors and in a forested outdoor park. Afternoons shifted gears toward team concepts and real game scenarios, with plenty of 2-on-2, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5 action, plus drills focused on reading the game and transition play.

One of the week’s highlights was Tuesday’s organized boat trip, giving campers a well earned break while still keeping the team spirit alive with a lunch out at sea. And on Friday, it all came together in All-Star Day, a showcase of everything the kids had learned.

Campers trained in a versatile gym that could split into three courts, played on outdoor courts, and even had access to over 10 beaches within walking distance, because what’s summer in Croatia without some sand and sea?!?!?!

With skill development, elite coaching, and island adventures, Dino’s camp wasn’t just another summer event, it was a full-on basketball experience. Safe to say, the players (and parents) will be counting down until next year.

Well done, Dino!
